Video from Hanoi
Hanoi is a fascinating city, where locals get up early each morning for exercise or to have coffee in one of the many great cafes.
While there is always something going on, and most often on the streets and sidewalks, Hanoi is much more relaxed than Saigon.
The Old Quarter is perfect for exploration on foot. Many of the streets are named after the products that are sold on them, from shoes to bamboo to traditional medicine.
The streets with religious items and musical instruments are particularly interesting.
The Temple of Literature, Vietnam's oldest university, is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery.
The Ho Chi Minh museum, mausoleum, and the one pillar pagoda are all within walking distance and certainly worth a visit.
A day trip to the Perfume Pagoda, paddling through spectacular scenery is also highly recommended.
